ManBearPig must be stopped.

I WILL TEAR YOUR FACE ASUNDER?!?!

RUN BITCH RUN

You can find good examples of my work either on NG or on my site, millzflickz.com. I am willing to try out making the art, but I may need to discuss the unfair price split with you. Not even 50/50, but kinda a ball breaker in this current way, we'll talk, let me know what's up.

skrew off, you and that piece of shit tank

seeing as my artwork has recently improved, i might give it a go. i dont even care about the deal (though just 1000 would be nice), i just want recodnition

hmmmm 25 percent?

and overhead games are by far the hardest to do, art wise, I also seriously doubt you doing 80 percent of the work, art takes a shitload longer then you think it dose, usaly at least a hour for a decent running animation.

Ive heard programmers go on all the time about how they can write engines in 15 minustes and such, never hear how a artist can do full character animations in 15 mins :[

hell working full time profesional animators can only get done about 20 seconds a week and thats just rough without colour and with a assistant for cleanup + inbetweens.

enough about my rant lol

it looks lke your art is already good enough for the game unless im missing something , maybe the art isnt yours?

just a thought, no hard feelings :)

(also this is why I started programming people are valueing art skills for flash games less and less now adays)

The art I have right now is good enough, at least some of it. I did draw all of it myself but I feel that some parts of the game would suffer if I was to draw it. I've really spent like a good 1-2 months collectively working on this game so far, getting the over head done and such.

I have many ship designs already, and the main thing I need an artist to do is the overhead sessions for the walking on islands portions, a few faces for the text boxes, and a few other things.

I don't think that's as much work as me having to plan the story out, program all the conversations, complete all the engines and bring the game together. I'm not asking anyone to give me gold animation that takes 2 years to complete, all I need is some one who is able to do top down city and jungles. I value art skills, I work with a lot of talented artists but I know I'd be doing a lot more work if I worked with an artist on this game, unless, as I said, they bust their ass off like I am :/

I can understand people reacting badly to this, like I'm greedy or something, but I really don't think I am. If no one thinks I'll get someone who wants to work with my I'll just take this down.

25%-30% to work your ass off for a game? good luck finding anybody good.
Doing animations and backgrounds takes TONS of time, especially if you want to make a quality game. If it were me, I'd want a 50% cut for the work, no less.

I'm working my ass off, I've been working my ass off for 2 months and in my experience I only have to work more as the game is getting finished. I've asked for little animation to be done and a some overhead cities. If you were doing all the art for the game I could understand, but really this would be mostly my project. I started it, came up with the idea, went through with it, brought a bit of the game to life with my own graphics and such.

If no one with a style that I think would go good with what's already done responds then so be it, I'll find a way to do it.

Yes we all feel like our own job is 'harder' and deserves more money but at the end of the day its a team effort... you obviously are frusterated by the lack of good art so you should be able to appreciate the impact of having an artist to compliment your work.. but you dont. Cause youre more about making your 5 grand and shortchanging an artist foolish enough to step in on this project.

Good luck moneybagz.

I'm not trying to keep an artist out of the money he deserves, and I know it's a team effort, I just think I would be putting in more work at the end of the project. If the artists really feels like he's not being paid enough after working on the project, then hell, he probably deserves more then 35%.

I want art to compliment my game to make it better and at the end of the day I want whoever worked on it to get back what they put into it. The work I'm asking people to get done IMO isn't as much work as I would put into the game in the end.

I have the engine done, I'm working on the story and writing, and I've done a few of the graphics myself.

I found someone.

Also I generally think its a bad idea to get down to the nitty gritty of money .. like find someone you click with first, someone who respects your work and you respect theirs.. someone into your idea of the game and someone whos art youre really into. I think talking about the whole money thing, while important... does taint the drive for it... especially if youre going to slap someone with the disclaimer that they are only gonna make a quarter out every dollar you make.

I completely agree with you there.

yea my first post was really negative.. sorrreh

Don't make a game with a set amount of cash in mind.
You look like you have a pretty good start to what good be a huge game. I don't know that much about it. So far the controls and such were smooth and easy to handle.

But don't put a pricetag on your game so early. It is motivational, but not always in the most beneficial way. When your goal is 5 grand, it may push you to work harder, but you might miss some aspects.
Or, you might settle as soon as you see a 5k offer, without waiting to see if it can make more.
Or, you might NEVER settle, because your holding out for that cash, and you might disappoint yourself.

Shit, sorry dude, I thought you meant ALL the art. In that case I take back my somewhat rude comment. If it's a partial job, then 25% sounds decent. Once again I apologize.

Hey! I would like to propose myself to making the graphics. If you want an example then respond me with something i could draw.

just a question, because im really surprised: you ve made about 4k$ with "best friends forever 2"?

honestly sheik i love you enough to actually want to do this.. u know im a great artist.
money really isn't my reason for animating right now. it's fun for me i guess haha
just get back to me if u want to choose me.

LOL good luck finding someone for a project of that sort that sounds totally awful terrible-rific.

Gross.

Well, If you do get around 5k
I'm up for 25 to 35%

I'm not exactly sure about drawing overhead cities and island but maybe later I'll go find some similar games and take inspiration from there. You can click my profile for my animation and pm if you need anything else.

In the words of Captain Falcon... YESS!!!
